Episode 4: "Yaxley Farcett- Part 3" (May 18th 09:20am)

Yaxley whimpered pathetically and fixed his eyes on the ceiling as his eyes began to water. Fiona rushed from behind the counter and knelt by his side. "Bloody madwoman" she said. "You're the fourth person she's had a run in with since she came in. I should have thrown her out. Are you alright?".

The pain in Yaxley's foot had overpowered his embarrassment and his vocal chords had begun to function again. "God, it hurts" he whined. "Her heel went right between the toes". They both looked down at Yaxley's foot and the heel had, indeed, gone right between the toes only scraping a small amount of skin.

"Get up. You'll live" laughed Fiona and she held out a hand to pull him up. At the sight of her proffered hand, Yaxley tried to act cool but his mind was dancing like Nobby Stiles at Wembley Stadium on July 30th 1966. Fiona brought Yaxley a coffee and they chatted for a while as he composed himself. As they chatted his mobile phone began to ring from within the depths of his jacket. He instantly wished he had changed the ringing tone from "The Birdie Song" to something more in keeping with his image. It had interrupted what was turning out to be a promising conversation. He listened and nodded for a bit and replied briefly, "...but I'm not due to start until tomorrow..ok..ok..ok. Cauliflower Drove. I can't miss it? Ok. Bye". He stood up and and snapped his phone shut with a flourish.

"Gotta dash" he said, with as much cool as he could muster. "Very mysterious Mr.Yaxley Farcett", Fiona teased. "And what drags you away so urgently?" Yaxley produced a card. "Give me a ring one evening if you're free" he said and left before she could reply. Fiona watched him limp out towards the battered Beetle and turned the card over in her hand. She raised an eyebrow as she read, "D.I YAXLEY FARCETT (Drainage Inspector)".
